Which eCommerce SEO Metrics Should You Track?

eCommerce SEO Metrics

An online furniture store owner in Al Quoz told us his SEO was going brilliantly. Traffic had doubled in six months. Then we looked at the orders. Almost nothing had changed, because most new visitors landed on a blog post about sofa cleaning tips and left. It’s a familiar story, and it’s what happens when ecommerce SEO Dubai campaigns are judged on the numbers that are easiest to report rather than the ones tied to sales.

So which numbers deserve your attention? Let’s find out:

Organic Revenue, Before Anything Else

If you only check one figure, make it this. In Google Analytics, filter revenue by organic search and watch the month-over-month trend. Traffic can rise for all sorts of reasons. Revenue only rises when the right people are finding the right pages.

Look at revenue per organic session too. If it’s falling while traffic grows, you’re attracting visitors who browse but don’t buy.

Where the Traffic Lands

Split organic visits by page type. Category pages, product pages, and blog posts do very different jobs. For most stores, category pages are where buying intent lives. Someone searching “outdoor dining sets” is much closer to checkout than someone reading about wood care.

If your category pages are getting a small share of organic visits, that’s usually where the biggest gains are hiding.

Brand vs Non-Brand Searches

People who already know your store will find it anyway. The real test of SEO is whether strangers find you. Google Search Console lets you separate searches containing your brand name from everything else. Growth in non-brand clicks means you’re reaching new customers, not just catching existing ones.

Click-Through Rate

Ranking fifth means little if nobody clicks. Search Console shows the click-through rate for each page and query. A product page with plenty of impressions but a low CTR often needs a better title or meta description, especially one that mentions price, delivery or stock. Small changes here can bring quick wins.

Indexing Problems

Online stores create messy URLs. Filters for size, color and price can generate thousands of near-duplicate pages, while out-of-stock products sometimes get dropped from the index altogether. Check the Pages report in Search Console every few weeks. A sudden jump in excluded or “crawled, not indexed” pages is often the first sign of a bigger problem.

Mobile Speed

Most eCommerce traffic in the UAE comes from phones, and slow product pages lose people quickly. Core Web Vitals in Search Console flag the pages that load poorly on mobile. Heavy product images and bulky apps or plugins are the usual culprits.

Add-to-Cart Rate From Organic Visitors

This one sits between traffic and revenue, and it’s useful for spotting where things break. If organic visitors add products to their cart but don’t check out, the issue may be shipping costs or a clunky checkout rather than SEO.

What Good Reporting Looks Like

Anyone who has searched for SEO services Dubai knows how many agencies promise rankings. Rankings matter, but a monthly report built around revenue, non-brand growth and page-level performance tells you far more. If your current reports lead with traffic and stop there, it’s worth asking for more.
